I’d done a “drift experience taster day” before where about 80 people were rushed through donuts/figure 8s with minimal instruction, this was the complete opposite of that. Tess’s infectious enthusiasm made it, she really seems to love what she does and did everything in her power to help us “get it” before moving on to the next part of the session. Sam was a great instructor, really helped me improve how I was approaching skids and gave some solid pointers for improving in the future. They’d thought of everything including gloves and water (it’s surprisingly thirsty work!) and made us feel completely welcome, I’ve got no hesitations in recommending them to anyone.

SO MUCH LEARNT

Booked a Gold Experience as I want to start drifting in my own car. I had sooo much seat time and came away after 3 hours linking a track, Tess and the team are brilliant so much knowledge and from not knowing much past doughnuts to come away with learning how to slow a car down with the angle and weight of the 350z and linking a track is amazing. I am definitely booking a platinum package next. This academy is 5* from the instructing to the time in the car. Thank you so much guys. See you soon.

THE BEST DRIFTING EXPERIENCE

Myself and my fiance matt have now completed quite a few drift experience days across the UK but RDX academy has got to be our NUMBER ONE vote for being relaxed, fun, professional, great value for money and most importantly coming out at the end feeling like you’ve actually progressed. Tessa and Brad were welcoming, enthusiastic and just lovely, down to earth souls, who made you feel at ease from the get go!
Tessa’s knowledge, patience and enthusiasm, gave me the confidence other drift experiences have failed to do. The atmosphere at the track (three sisters) was great. Whilst waiting for your turn, everyone at the side shared their experience of the day and more importantly everyone was smiling and excited to get out in the cars for their turn. The session flowed and felt continous of which again other places have failed to make you feel.
I would HIGHLY recommend the GOLD EXPERIENCE with rdx academy and I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed. Once you’ve had a go you’ll be hooked and wanting to book your next session without a dought !!

Fantastic experience

I booked two silver packages for myself and a friend, we had to move it due to work related issues and Tess was very accommodating. She sorted moving the bookings for us and we an awesome time. Brad (instructor) was very helpful and patient and the overall experience was sick! Would highly recommend, and we’ll book again / be in contact!

Absolutely Amazing and Such Brilliant People

I absolutely loved my experience it was the most amazing day!! The instructors were so amazing and down to earth and explained everything so well to me so I knew exactly what I was doing and things I needed to work on which is so important for someone who wants to go into drifting professionally like myself!!
Tessa and Brad were also especially amazing when I explained I had really bad anxiety with being driven from past bad experiences and an accident I had! They really showed they cared and helped me so much to feel comfortable and safe when in the cars, I appreciated that so much.
There was another instructor that I didn’t get the name of that was really lovely and asked me how I was doing and how everything went and had a lovely conversation with me about everything and improving which I also appreciated so much!!
I’ve already planned my next session and Can’t wait to come back and see the team again!!

Best Place To Learn Drifting By Far

I have done ‘learn to drift’ experience days before which although one on one are more about a bit of fun in a car with mostly worn tires.

RDX is a whole other level. It is truly one on one training. Tessa and the team are brilliant and put you instantly at ease.

It is great to see the instructors reactions when you perfect a task, they are genuinely happy for you and very enthusiastic to help you go further.

We stood talking to everyone about their own cars and their path into drifting and running the academy. It is very interesting.

Time is not rushed, everything about the day is relaxed and yet you get the maximum seat time out of any I have done before.

Thank you for a great day with RDX, I will be back soon for another course.

Slideways School

I got in the car having never drifted anything before…I got the out the car with the confidence of initiating, holding and transitioning a drift.

The whole atmosphere is based around having fun while learning to drift!

Be warned – it’s ADDICTIVE.

Fantastic 18th birthday present!!

Let’s just start with TOTALLY AWESOME 💯!!! Booked my daughter on the Silver course after she announced she’d like a drifting experience for her 18th birthday. She’s only been driving for 9 months so was both very exited and nervous!! Sam her instructor was a brilliant driver, positive and reassuring teacher and encouraged her to push herself to achieve left & right doughnuts and drifting in both directions. The smile on her face when she nailed each maneuver was absolutely magical and it gives her a great 18th story which I’m sure will be re-told endlessly!! As encouraging and enthusiastic spectators my other daughter and I watched on in the rain delighted and more than a little envious (well we are all adrenaline junkies!!) And couldn’t get to the car quick enough when Sam offered us a cheeky taster lap!! Absolutely brilliant, huge smiles all round and has left me trying to rally a group of us to try it for ourselves.. Obviously with the promise of a little healthy competition thrown in😉.. No pressure!!! HUGE thank you to the team for teaching my 18yr old to throw a car around (good job we only have front wheel drive cars otherwise the roundabouts in the Lake District would be fair game!) And to Superstar Sam for our cheeky adrenaline lap which now means my other daughter has her own future gift ideas now!😂😂 Fabulous set up would highly recommend!!

Was bought this as a present by my 5 year old and I absolutely loved every minute! The instructors were superb, so patient and helpful. When they said there was 2-3 per car I started doubting being there as I thought I wouldn’t get much Drive time, but it was spot on! Made to feel completely at ease and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day

Such a great day with a quality instructor, couldn’t believe the progress I made. The staff were great, the cars were great and Tessa made it possible by helping me book a corse which catered for what I wanted and it still gave me more !!! Hope to see you all again soon

Awesome day – lots of seat time!

From the moment we got there it was just an all round awesome day… Matt and the team were great and clearly explained the format of the day and the techniques we would be learning…

There was plenty of seat time and the instructors were really good, adapting their styles to the different members of the group. I learnt so much in the relatively short amount of time I spent with Tessa and can’t wait to head back for another session in the future… They even took our non-driving spectators out for a hot lap which I thought was a nice touch!

Would highly recommend anyone looking for an experience day like this to book with RDX!

Loved Every Second !

We had an awesome day. The cars were great, very well prepared, and the instructors – I cannot say enough good things about them. We were made to feel totally welcome, and always encouraged positively. JoJo was an awesome instructor, really patient and made sure we had a great time.

WOW! That’s much harder than I ever thought! Glad I came to experience and appreciate how talented these drivers are. Will have to book a whole day next time and bring some mates…

Amazing experience

My first time behind the wheel in a drift car and I wouldn’t have had a better teacher. Tessa was awesome and really made me feel comfortable as did the rest of the RDX team!! I will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Top Quality Kit – Top Quality People.

Firstly let me say I’m not particularly interested in drifting but did the course to try to improve my car handling skills at the limit of grip for normal road driving. As the cars are modified with fixed diffs, it didn’t work.
However the pros are that you get top quality kit, Nissan 350 ZX’s, the full corporate experience with driving overalls and helmets and a talented set of instructors to show you the ropes. It’s very full-on with little chance to develop on the day if it doesn’t come naturally. I would recommend practicing feathering the throttle / accelerator by about 2000 revs before you arrive remembering your car will overheat / burst in to flames if you do it too long whilst stationary. Another challenge is to let go of the steering wheel and battle the instinct to catch the skid. The instructors demonstrate the brutality of starting the drift which is difficulty to replicate and control but it is enjoyable as long as you don’t expect too much in one session.
The cons are that the course is quite small so you can’t learn the limit with repetition like you could on a circuit, a square course with 90 degree radiused corners would I think help with progressive learning, corner-corner-corner-corner style. The cones didn’t help me either as they get in the way, white lining without the kerbs (vibra-lining) would be better. To get everything to sync is a big ask, turn in, full throttle, clutch blip, catch steering, concentrate on route between cones is very busy.
To sum up, someone who wants to drift might be able to nail it in a couple of sessions, In any case it’s a good way to spend a day.

Fantastic experience

Wow what an amazing day out and experience! A big Thank you to my fab sons and daughter-in-law for being there with me, bringing Ella with them and for givng me this experience as a birthday gift. It really was a great day and great fun….even if I did’t quite reach the boys’standards. ?? I now know how to do doughnuts and drift round corners!!! It was a great trip home too on the roundabouts!!! ?? I will be back!

AMAZING DAY!!!

RDX Drift Academy
This Saturday I had an AMAZING time at RDX Drift Academy. I’d recommend it for anyone looking into getting into drifting or if you own or thinking of owning a performance vehicle.

The School is run by professional drivers from the Pro section of the British Drift Championship or In top end of the European leagues, I was put with Martin Richards as I was on the 6 hour course and he was brilliant, very patient, supportive and had a great way of explaining the core skills and helping get the car under control whilst your in the driving seat by tailoring tasks specific to the student.
Seat time is plentiful as Martin really believes its only by doing that you’ll get that crucial car control.

The cars are great, all 350Z’s with race mods to help with you get the best out of them on the track, mine was No. 46 and I got very protective of it as the day went on.

As a part of the course at the end I was put into a car with one of the pro drivers behind the wheel (Martin Richards), and in another car is another pro driver (Matt Denham) with another student and then they race, wow its fun if you don’t come out smiling I’ll be amazed, for a bit of fun they take it really seriously.

A big thank you to Martin, Matt and all the RDX Team, just a warning I will be back.
